Lent and Easter

12 February 2024 12 May 2024

In this issue of With Love to the World, as we move through the season of Lent and then Easter, we are invited to hear stories for Scripture that will nurture our faith and deepen our discipleship. In Lent, we reflect on passages from across Scripture, with a Gospel reading each week drawn from either Mark or John. During Easter, the First Reading comes not from Hebrew Scripture, but from the Acts of the Apostles; a reminder of the impact that Jesus had as his early followers spread the news of his life, death, and resurrection.

Sunday prayers follow a cycle advised by the World Council of Churches, which is available on their website at https://www.oikoumene.org/ resources/prayer-cycle. A Psalm or psalm-like passage is suggested each day, to provide extra material for your daily devotion. This schedule, devised by Howard Wallace, enables you to read all of the psalms in less than a year. Important people of faith are named at the end of many commentaries. To find out more about them go to: https://assembly.uca.org.au/cudw/worship-resources-and-publications/item/1354-a-calendar-of-other-commemorations

Please enjoy the resource as you read and reflect each day.
